Work as a Volunteer Deacon
This person is full of the Holy Spirit (Acts 6:3,5) - Such persons are spiritually minded and submissive to God's leadership.
This person is full of wisdom (Acts 6:3) - Such person have spiritual knowledge and understanding that provide sound direction for the ministry of the church.
This person is also full of faith (Acts 6:5). Spiritual person walk by faith and not by sight because they know and trust the God of the Word and believe in the Word of God.
This person has a good reputation (Acts 6:3). Such person demonstrates integrity and honesty to others. He/She has a believable Christian life.
This person should be grave or dignified and worthy of respect (1 Tim. 3:8) - Such persons faces life seriously and there is a certain stateliness about person that commands respect.
This is a person who is not double-tongued but is sincere in his/her speech (1Tim. 3:8) - Such person should speak with verbal honesty and integrity, not saying one thing to one person and something else to another.
This person abstains from the use of addictive drugs for other than medicinal purposes, and from the sale and use of alcoholic beverages (1 Tim. 3:8) He realizes the importance of his Christian influence and is willing to limit his/her liberty for the sake of others.
This is not a greedy person (1 Tim. 3:8) - Such person is free from the love of money and other earthly possessions.
This person has a deep Biblical commitment (1 Tim. 3:9) - This person holds to the truths of the Christian faith with a clear conscience. He/She is not easily swayed from the truth because he strives to live what he/she knows.
This person must first be tested and proven (1 Tim. 3:10 - This person must have proven over time that he/she is faithful and that his/she walks is credible.
Deacon Job Description
He/She must also be beyond reproach and blameless (1 Tim. 3:10) - Such person must display a lifestyle free from continual patterns of Scriptural disobedience. There should be nothing in his life for which he/she could be accused and thus disqualified.
This person's spouse should be a person worthy of respect, not malicious gossip, but temperate and faithful in everything. (1Tim 3:10)
The spouse should be devoted to God and yield to the Holy Spirit.
This person should be the spouse of one person (1 Tim. 3:12) - This person should be devoted and faithful to his/her spouse.
He/She must manage his/her children and his/her household well (1 Tim. 3:12) - Such person should demonstrate leadership in his/her home life.
He/She should have a well-ordered family life, and well-behaved children (still under his/her authority). (Heb. 13:7, 17).
He/She shall practice "storehouse tithing" of his family income (Mal. 3:10).
He/She should do all he/she can to create and preserve unity and harmony in the chaplaincy (Eph. 4:1-3).
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Participate regularly in a ministerial group, either as a worker or a member.
Attend worship services and night activities, unless providentially hindered.
Actively serve in some ministry in the life of the ministry
Be supportive of the overall ministry of EMM..
Participate in all scheduled Deacon Body activities, unless providentially hindered.
Be available to minister when called upon by Minister.
Practice personal evangelism of the lost as opportunities arise.
Attend beneficial training sessions as available, unless providentially hindered.
Pray for and be supported of the Minister, Pastoral Staff, and Deacon Body Leadership.
